The four conditionals
A quick reference before you practice.
General truths and scientific facts.
If + present simple, present simple.
"If you heat water to 100°C, it boils."
Real or possible situations in the future.
If + present simple, will + base verb.
"If it rains tomorrow, we will stay home."
Hypothetical or unlikely present/future situations.
If + past simple, would + base verb.
"If I had more time, I would learn piano."
Hypothetical situations about the past (regrets).
If + past perfect, would have + past participle.
"If she had studied, she would have passed."
